Look behind the scenes at 'real' murder scene in Portsmouth
In the first event of its kind,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the University of Portsmouth is giving an insight into what happens during a criminal investigation.
Visitors will be invited to wander through a murder scene, look for evidence and talk to scenes of crime officers to find out how investigators piece together clues.
The forensic facial reconstruction team will explain what marks on human skulls reveal about a crime, while experts will show how fingerprint evidence is collected.
University lecturers will talk about some of their more unusual research like how to spot a liar.
And mobile phone forensic company Radiotactics will demonstrate how evidence can be taken from phones,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Prof Steve Savage, head of the university's institute of criminal justice studies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said: 'This is a unique opportunity to talk to the real experts and find out what goes on behind the scenes of a genuine criminal investigation.'
The free event will host experts from the university's criminology, forensics, psychology, law and technology departments as well as from Hampshire Police.
During the day a domestic abuse trial will take place in the university's mock court room. People can turn up on the day at the university's Portland Building in Portland Street from 10am until 4pm.
