E.ON starts work on offshore HQ for 288MW wind farm in North Sea
DUSSELDORF, Germany, Aug. 19 () -- German utility company E.ON. announced Monday it started construction of an operations base for the Amrumbank West wind farm in the North Sea.The company said it started building a 19,000 square foot building on the North Sea island of Helgoland to serve as the base of operations for staff working on the wind farm. "Helgoland is very conveniently located and therefore an ideal maintenance base for our offshore wind farm," wind farm manager Dominik Schwegmann said in a statement.The wind farm is about 20 miles away from the island. Once commissioned in 2015, it would be able to generate about 288 megawatts of energy and offset the emissions of more than 740,[url=http://www.tymarc.com/]christian louboutin discount[/url],000 tons of carbon dioxide each year.E.ON said its lease on Helgoland is for an initial term of 28 years.
