Wednesday marked the 16th anniversary of Stellarton teenager Kevin Martin's disappearance. His family is determined not to forget him. Sisters Samantha and Danielle Thomas talk about their big brother Kevin with a bit of hero worship in their eyes.
"He taught us how to tie our shoes and ride our bikes," says Danielle. "He was the best brother."
Samantha still smiles when Kevin's favourite song comes on the radio.
"Whoop There It Is by Tag Team - he sang that all the time," she says. "It came on when we were in the van the other day and we jammed out to it."
MacDonald recently had a tattoo in honour of Kevin and another brother, Olin, who died in a house fire when he was seven. And all of his siblings do whatever they can to tell their own children about their uncle.
"Dani-Lynn has his picture in her room," Samantha says, gesturing to her seven-month-old daughter. Kevin attended the camp every summer and loved going there, says Thomas.
"I think he'd be happy to know we're doing this here," she said.
